Enter the Cold War era with unique visit of the nuclear fallout shelter. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, these underground shelters were real thing due to fear of nuclear war between USA and Soviet Union. The Folimanka shelter is known to be the largest underground construction in Prague 2. Its interior of 1332 m² can hold up to 1300 persons. The shelter is maintained and is fully functional with lighting and heating. It is located approximately 20 meters below ground level.

The original construction plans date back to 1952 and the shelter was completed in 1962. Structure consists of concrete blocks and inside there are several rooms, including two toilets, a sanitation room, a medical station, two oxygen stations, three filter-ventilation units, two dust chambers, two makeshift mortuaries, a communication center, and a power center. The shelter is equipped with armored doors, one main entrance, two emergency exits, several emergency exits to the dome, and an observation post.

You will not only see the inside of the shelter, but also permanent exhibitions. Ashes of Ash Wednesday Exhibition reminds bombing of Prague in 1945 by Allied air force. On display is even defused American 500 LB General Purpose bomb. Included in Folimanka Shelter is also improvised cinema hall with documentary about Cold War and other crisis situations.
