This unique town is protected by UNESCO and really worth visiting. It sprang up because some very rich silver veins were discovered in the underground in the 13th century. Afterwards wooden houses were built without planning on the spot, which gives the town its picturesque look. In the Middle Ages Kutna Hora was a competitor to Prague to be the most important town in the area.

We are going to visit the impressing church of St. Barbara, which was constructed in the 14th Century by the same architects, who built the St. Vitus Cathedral on the Prague Castle.

Then you have a few hours on your own. F. ex to visit the Small Castle, where the excursion includes a walk in one of the silver mines or you can go to the Italian Court or just have a nice lunch in one of the cosy restaurants in the center of town.

Finally we drive to the outskirts of Kutna Hora to visit the bone church, where the macabre interior consists of decorations made out of the bones from 40.000 human beings. The bones are arranged in chandeliers, pyramides, coats of arms etc.
